[E-book] The Islamic awakening- Sh. Ibn Uthaymeen

My brothers, the Islamic awakening of today has pervaded all Islamic countries, and all praise is for Allah. It has to be understood, however, that this awakening must be established upon a solid foundation – in terms of Allah’s book and Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger [sallallahu alaihi wasallam]. If it is not established upon these primary sources, then it will be a reckless and unstable awakening, which will perhaps destroy more than it will build. But if it is built upon the principles and teaching of Allah’s Book and the authentic Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger [sallallahu alaihi wasallam], then it will have a very positive and effective influence on the Muslim Nation and on other Nations as well.

Who would imagine that, at the time, even the Arabs were not under his rule; in fact, the Prophet [sallallahu alaihi wasallam] has not even conquered Makkah; he was still considered to be an emigrant of Makkah? So who would imagine that a king such as Harqal, who ruled over so many people, would say such a statement: “If what you say is the truth, then he will rule over what is underneath these two feet of mine?” Did what Harqal predict actually occur or not? Did the Prophet [sallallahu alaihi wasallam] rule over what was underneath the feet of Harqal, i.e. Sham at the time, Rome ruled over those lands? Isn’t it true that Prophet [sallallahu alaihi wasallam] died before the Muslims conquered Sham?

My brothers, if this consciousness that has pervaded the ranks of the Muslim youth today is not based on Allah’s book and the Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger [sallallahu alaihi wasallam], then it will be reckless and misguided, and it is feared that it will destroy more than it will build.

[E-book] Youth’s problem- Sh. Ibn Uthaymeen

Youth is a time of great change and hope for the future. It can be the happiest and most productive time of a person’s life, yet this stage of development can also be fraught with numerous psychological, sociological, and spiritual crises. Because the young people of any society carry the future of their nation on their shoulders, their problem and troubles should be of utmost concern for everyone around them and solution to these difficulties must be practical and concrete.

Islam offers a perfect code of life which addresses human concerns at all stages of life. The dilemmas faced by contemporary young people are no exception. Worries and misconceptions creep into their minds, make them feel confused and distressed, and may cause them to tum in the wrong direction; this may result in their being led astray. Allah the Creator, however; has bestowed upon humanity complete guidance which, if understood and followed, offers direction to even the most troubled minds and hearts. Young people who follow Allah’s guidance will become a source of pride, inspiration and strength for the global Muslim community. They offer hope for the future and a cure for the ills that plague the world. Their reward lies not only in this world but in the eternal life to come.

[E-book] Celebrating Valentine’s day- Sh. Salih al-Munajjid

In recent years, a new phenomenon has spread among the Muslim youth – males and females alike – which does not bode well. This is manifested in their imitation of the Christians in their celebration of the Valentine’s Day, which has led the scholars and Daa’iyahs (callers to Islam) to explain the rulings of Sharee’ah (Islamic legislation) concerning that, out of sincerity towards Allah, His Messenger, the leaders of the Muslims and their common folk, so that Muslims may have a clear understanding of this issue and so that they will not fall into that which will undermine the belief (‘Aqeedah) with which Allah has blessed them.

This is a brief discussion of the origins, development and purpose of this holiday, and what the Muslim should do with regard to it.

[PDF] Concept of gender equality in Islam

As mentioned in a New York Times article on Women’s health:

In contrast to the feminist premise that women can do anything men can do, science is demonstrating that women can do some things better, that they have many biological and cognitive advantages over men. Then again, there are some things that women don’t do as well.

“If any do deeds of righteousness,- be they male or female – and have faith, they will enter Heaven, and not the least injustice will be done to them.” (Quran 4:124)

“Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him will We give a new Life, a life that is good and pure, and We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions.” (Quran 16:97)

“He that works evil will not be requited but by the like thereof: and he that works a righteous deed – whether man or woman – and is a Believer- such will enter the Garden (of Bliss): Therein will they have abundance without measure.” (Quran 40:40)

[E-Book] The History of the Khalifahs- Jalal ad-Din as-Suyuti

This is a new translation of the chapters on al-Khulafa’ar- Rashidun from as-Suyuti’s Tarikh al-Khulafa’. These chapters shine with a genuine light. I have continued beyond the first four khulafa’to include al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, because he was the fifth of the khulafa’ and he legitimately transferred the Khilafah to Muawiyah, may Allah be pleased with him.

The translation lacks the majority of references to the books which are the sources of the hadith quoted, because whoever is interested find the Arabic text easily available.

Furthermore the translation stays as close as possible to the original Arabic at the risk of a slight awkwardness in the English. Where necessary I have added within parentheses whatever seemed necessary for an understanding of the book.

The history outlined in these pages is further illuminated by a work which is even greater than it, but is itself an exposition that assumes a knowledge of what is in these pages, that is al-Awasim min al-Qawasim (‘Defence Against Disaster’) by Qadi Abu Bakr ibn al-Arabi, may Allah show him mercy Whereas as-Suyuti gives most authentic traditions relating to these khilafahs, Qadi Abu bakr lays bare the real significance of many of the events which as-Suyuti so expertly relates.

[E-Book] Dangers in the Home- Sh. Salih al-Munajjid

Praise be to Allaah. We praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own selves and from our evil deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides cannot be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray cannot be guided. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship but Allaah alone, with no partner or associate, and I bear witness that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Putting things right in the home is a great trust and huge responsibility which every Muslim man and woman should undertake as Allaah The Almighty commands, by running the affairs of their homes in accordance with the rules set out by Allaah The Almighty. One of the ways of achieving this is by ridding the home of evil things.

The following discussion aims to bring to light some of the evils that actually happen in some homes and that have become tools of destruction for the nests in which the future generations of the Ummah (Muslim nation) are being raised. This concise paper highlights some of these evils, and explains some Haraam (forbidden) matters in order to caution readers about them. It is a gift to every seeker of truth who is looking for methods of change, so that he or she can implement the command of the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam:

“Whoever of you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand [by taking action], and if he cannot, then with his tongue [by speaking out], and if he cannot, then with his heart [by feeling that it is wrong] and that is the weakest of faith.”

(Reported by Muslim in his Saheeh, 1/69)

This discussion expands upon some forbidden or evil matters that have already been mentioned in brief in 40 Recommendations for the Muslim Home.
