[E-book] Sincerity- Sh. Salih al-Munajjid

Muslim scholars have paid great attention to the deeds of the heart, authored many books on this topic, explained the importance of this issue to people and encouraged them to be
mindful of it and develop themselves in this field. This is because the salvation of humankind (after the mercy of Allah) is achieved through having a sound and sincere heart.

The deeds of the heart require greater care and struggle than the deeds of the limbs and the tongue, and if the heart is reformed, rectified and is treated for its illnesses and defects,
then the actions and deeds of the limbs will be done purely for the sake of Allah. Therefore, the main and most essential matter is to reform and remedy the actions of the heart, because without a sound heart there would be no benefit from the actions of the limbs.

[E-book] Celebrating Valentine’s day- Sh. Salih al-Munajjid

In recent years, a new phenomenon has spread among the Muslim youth – males and females alike – which does not bode well. This is manifested in their imitation of the Christians in their celebration of the Valentine’s Day, which has led the scholars and Daa’iyahs (callers to Islam) to explain the rulings of Sharee’ah (Islamic legislation) concerning that, out of sincerity towards Allah, His Messenger, the leaders of the Muslims and their common folk, so that Muslims may have a clear understanding of this issue and so that they will not fall into that which will undermine the belief (‘Aqeedah) with which Allah has blessed them.

This is a brief discussion of the origins, development and purpose of this holiday, and what the Muslim should do with regard to it.

[E-Book] Dangers in the Home- Sh. Salih al-Munajjid

Praise be to Allaah. We praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our own selves and from our evil deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides cannot be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray cannot be guided. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship but Allaah alone, with no partner or associate, and I bear witness that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Putting things right in the home is a great trust and huge responsibility which every Muslim man and woman should undertake as Allaah The Almighty commands, by running the affairs of their homes in accordance with the rules set out by Allaah The Almighty. One of the ways of achieving this is by ridding the home of evil things.

The following discussion aims to bring to light some of the evils that actually happen in some homes and that have become tools of destruction for the nests in which the future generations of the Ummah (Muslim nation) are being raised. This concise paper highlights some of these evils, and explains some Haraam (forbidden) matters in order to caution readers about them. It is a gift to every seeker of truth who is looking for methods of change, so that he or she can implement the command of the Messenger of Allaah, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam:

“Whoever of you sees an evil action, let him change it with his hand [by taking action], and if he cannot, then with his tongue [by speaking out], and if he cannot, then with his heart [by feeling that it is wrong] and that is the weakest of faith.”

(Reported by Muslim in his Saheeh, 1/69)

This discussion expands upon some forbidden or evil matters that have already been mentioned in brief in 40 Recommendations for the Muslim Home.

[E-Book]: What you should do in the following situations? Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid

The Muslim may be faced with a number of emergency situations in his life, where he needs an immediate answer as to how he should act in that particular situation. In most cases, however, it is not possible to look for or ask about the appropriate Islamic rulings at that time.

This proves the importance of learning about Islam and knowing the rules of sharee‘ah, so that when a Muslim needs this information, he will have it at hand and will thus be able to save himself or his Muslim brother from doing something haraam or making a mistake. In so many cases, ignorance can lead to corruption of worship or – at the very least – acute embarrassment. It is unfortunate that an imaam may mistakenly stand up for a fifth rak‘ah, and there may be nobody in the congregation or the mosque who knows what the rulings of sharee‘ah say should be done in such a situation. Or a traveller who is intending to perform umrah may come to the airport at the last minute, and suddenly discover that he has forgotten his ihraam garments, but he has no time to do anything about it, and there is nobody among the Muslim in the airport who can tell him what he should do in this emergency. Or a man may come to the mosque on an occasion when the prayers have been joined together because of rain: the congregation is already praying ishaa‘ but he has not yet prayed maghrib, so he is confused as to what he should do. In such a situation the people may embark upon a debate based only on ignorance, and so confusion will reign in the mosques. In many individual and personal matters, ignorance may lead to embarrassment and even sin, especially when a person is in the position of having to make a decision and he does not have sufficient knowledge on which to base that decision.

People in this world have prepared information telling people how to behave in emergency situations: what to do if fire breaks out, if someone is drowning, if a scorpion bites, if there is a car accident, if someone is bleeding or has broken a bone… All of these first aid procedures are well known; they teach them to people and hold special courses. How much more important is it, then, that those who are concerned with the Hereafter should learn and teach the rules of this religion!
